Sun or Shade? Both. 🌤

Thriving in full sun, Zenith does have a little shade tolerance

As a Zoysiagrass, Zenith naturally thrives in full-on, all-day long, baking hot sun. However, it offers some shade tolerance, as long as it gets at least 6 to 7 hours of full sun. We have articles to help you determine if your yard is too shady for grass and we offer tips on how to make it a little more sunny, if necessary.

Zenith Zoysia is a Warm-Season Lawn

The term "warm season" means it's green during the warm growing season; going dormant after frost. Even though it's dormant during winter, it can still be walked and played on.

Unique to any other type of Zoysia, Zenith lawns can be planted as sod and seed. Zenith sod can be installed all year long, even during the winter when it's dormant. Zenith seed is best planted during the warm growing season when the ground is warm and there is no danger of frost.

Heat & hard frost tolerant

Thriving in the high heat and humidity of the Deep South to the cold winters of the Mid Atlantic, Zenith Zoysia is a well-adapted Zoysiagrass for the transition zone (an area from Baltimore to Cincinnati to St. Louis and West) and then south to Miami. Within Super-Sod's footprint, Zenith sod can also be harvested and laid when it's dormant.

Love Fescue, but hate the upkeep? Choose Zenith.

  • Deep green color
  • Medium-sized leaf blade (medium textured) that most closely resembles tall fescue
  • Likes an acidic pH (low pH) - depending on results of your soil test, there may be no need to raise the pH with lime
  • Slowing growing - needs less mowing than Tall Fescue & Bermuda
  • Drought tolerant; it goes dormant in extended drought, greening up again when rain return

Where to Use Zenith

Zenith Zoysia sod is a great fit for both homes and commercial spaces. It's often used as a replacement for Tall Fescue due to its wide leaf blades. Zenith Zoysia resembles Tall Fescue more than any other zoysia and is more heat and drought tolerant than any Tall Fescue type.
  • Residential lawns & commercial landscapes
  • Public & private parks
  • Medians & roadsides
  • Sports fields and golf courses on fairways, tees, and roughs

  • Zenith stripes well, as seen in pictures herein

Unique & versatile methods of establishment

Sodding and seeding result in beautiful lawns that, in time, will look the same. The differences, in brief:

  • Sod costs more, but offers instant impact
  • Sod cost more, but is easier to take care of during the establishment phase
  • Seed costs less, but the trade off is in your time and effort
