JaMur Zoysia
Fast growth, so faster recovery from traffic than other Zoysias
JaMur Zoysia Description
JaMur Zoysia is a warm‑season turfgrass that thrives in the various hot Texas climates. It combines a coarse leaf texture with high plushness to create a firm yet comfortable surface.
You’ll find reliable performance in medium‐shade sites and good resilience under moderate drought and foot traffic. Heat tolerance is excellent, though it will go dormant in colder weather.
JaMur sod establishes quickly into a dense, green carpet. Once established, it's a fast grower, so offers faster recovery from traffic than other Zoysias.
- Leaf Texture: Coarse
- Plushness: High, for a cushioned, dense turf
- Shade tolerance: Medium; must receive at least 5-6 hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight to thrive
- Drought tolerance: Medium; withstands short dry spells but benefits from supplemental irrigation; survives long periods of drought by going dormant and recovering with regrowth when rain returns
- Traffic & wear tolerance: Good; suited to typical play by kids, small/medium dogs, and recreational use (e.g., parks, casual sports); vigorous growth offers fast recovery from damage due to traffic
- Heat tolerance: High; maintains vigor through summer peaks
- Cold tolerance: Low; thrives better in warm winters such as in Zone 8b and warmer
- Winter appearance: Dormant brown stand during the dead of winter; enters dormancy and turns brown once temperatures consistently drop below freezing; stays greener longer in the fall and greens up sooner in the spring
- Maintenance considerations: Maintenance level is medium; dense growth suppresses weeds, but JaMur requires moderate irrigation and fertilization
- Lifestyle considerations: Ideal for yards with typical child play, small/medium dogs, and occasional light sports
- Curb appeal (with proper care): High; produces a uniform, weed‑resistant carpet when fertilized, mowed, and watered according to guidelines
